IOSH Managing Safely Course
The ‘Managing Safely’ course is designed for managers and supervisors to comply with the arrangements of their company’s safety policy. Delegates are instructed on standards of legal compliance and best practice.

Course duration: 4 days
Comprises of seven modules:

  1. Safety management.
  2. Reactive monitoring.
  3. Risk assessment and risk control.
  4. Active monitoring.
  5. Review and audit.
  6. Health and safety legislation.
  7. Hazards – general.

Assessment is by written exam consisting of one paper and a practical assessment carried out after the course in the workplace. On passing the certificate delegates will be issued with an IOSH certificate in ‘Managing Safely’.
The course venue can be arranged to suit the needs of the client.

IOSH Working Safely Course
This one-day IOSH accredited program trains employees to ensure their actions contribute to health and safety in the workplace and that individual responsibilities are clearly understood.
The course is designed for all employees particularly non-managerial staff and first line supervisors who have had little or no health and safety training. The course could be used as part of an induction training program, although it is also suitable to meet the ongoing training requirements.

Course duration: 1 day
Comprises of three modules:

  1. Safe working, identifying hazards and risks, selecting precautions and assisting the risk assessment process.
  2. Common hazards and risks: Fire, Electricity, Work Equipment, COSHH, Workplace Transport, Housekeeping, Manual Handling, DSE and Noise
  3. Improving safety performance, accident reporting, management systems, risk assessment and control, policies, monitoring and co-operation/communication

Assessment will be by multiple choice exam and a hazard spotting exercise. Upon successful completion an IOSH Working Safely Certificate will be awarded. The course venue can be arranged to suit the needs of the client.

Safety Fundamentals for Managers Course
The Safety Fundamentals for managers is a course aimed at middle and first line managers.
This course is designed for organisations that cannot afford to lose managers from the business for four days to go on a Managing Safely Course but recognise the importance of the need for safety training. Safety Fundamentals for Managers addresses such a requirement.

The course is not externally accredited but is designed to give an overview of the importance of health and safety to managers

Course duration: 1 day
Comprises of four topics:

  1. The need to manage safety.
  2. Identification of hazards and carrying out risk assessments.
  3. Dealing with common hazards in the workplace.
  4. Safety management systems and improving safety performance.

The course is assessed by the delegates carrying out a workplace inspection and completing a short answer question paper.
The course venue can be arranged to suit the needs of the client.

Health and Safety Basics Course
The Health and Safety Basics is a half-day course designed for all non-managerial employees. The course is designed for organisations that cannot afford to lose employees from the business for a full day to complete a Working Safely Course but recognise that giving employees’ safety training is important. The course can be used as part of an induction program or as a refresher course to increase employee’s safety awareness.

Course duration: 1/2 day
Comprises of three topics:

  1. The importance of safety.
  2. Identifying hazards and assessing risk.
  3. Dealing with hazards in the workplace

Oil Depot Safety Course
The Oil Depot Safety Course is designed for managers and supervisors in both large and small depots to gain an understanding of the safety aspects of depot operation. The course gives the delegates a good understanding of how to safely manage an oil depot.

Course duration: 3 and 1/2 days
Comprises of eight topics:

  1. The need to manage safety.
  2. Legal basis of safety management.
  3. Risk assessment.
  4. Incident investigation.
  5. The hazards of depot operation.
  6. Inspections and audits.
  7. Oil spillages.
  8. Incident management.

Assessment is by written examination on the last day.

Accident Investigation
The accident investigation course is designed for first line managers and supervisors. The course covers the need to investigate accident right through to actually carrying out practical accident investigations using role-play situations. All delegates will be supplied with a manual on how to investigate accidents.
Specific scenarios can be developed to match the needs of individual clients.

Practical Risk Assessment
The purpose of this course is to train first line managers, supervisors and team leaders on how to carry out risk assessments that comply with the legal requirement set out in The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations.

The course covers why it is necessary to carry out risk assessments and practical exercises in carrying out risk assessments using the five-step process. Understanding the need to develop control measures will also be covered. Delegates will be provided with a pack on how to carry out risk assessments.
